NorthWest Shintaido Exchange – Flowing Movement workshop with Master Instructor H.F. Ito

Northwest Shintaido Exchange is proud to welcome Shintaido Master Instructor H. F. Ito to Bellingham in August. A master of Shintaido bojutsu (quarterstaff) and jojutsu (monk’s walking stick) and an accomplished swordsman, Ito-sensei will lead a one-day workshop in Shintaido jojutsu theory and technique, including an introduction to Ten Chi Jin (unification of heaven, earth, self, and others).
This is a rare opportunity to integrate flowing Shintaido movement not just into our bodies but also into our lives. Following the Shintaido principle “Your body is a message of the universe” and under the guidance of a world-class teacher, we will use the jo to unify heaven and earth, others and self.
The focus on flowing movement makes this one-day workshop accessible to everyone, and of special interest to those working in related disciplines such as tai chi, aikido, and dance. No previous experience is necessary for the Sunday keiko, but the morning keiko is required in order to take the afternoon keiko.
