MEMBERSHIP

SoA is an organization supported by volunteers and run primarily on membership dues. General membership is open to anyone, and is a way to financially support the goals and objectives of SoA. For $40 a year, members receive free mailings of the yearly Shintaido magazine Body Dialogue, 10% discounts off registration fees at all gasshukus (), and mailings about Shintaido-related events.

At the higher levels, SoA membership is required in order to maintain accreditation. Assistant and Graduate membership is $60 per year, and SoA Instructor membership is $110 per year. Instructors receive the benefits of free access to publicity and organizational materials produced by SoA.

FINANCES

SoA is funded by membership dues, examination fees, and donations. Educational materials also provide some income in excess of expenses. Income from publications is used to subsidize Body Dialogue.

SoA is run entirely by volunteers. Organizational expenses include phone and fax bills, membership mailings, the printing and mailing of Body Dialogue, and pension fund payments of $100 per month each for H.F. Ito and Michael Thompson.
