An article titled, “The Journey to Recovery, With a Sword, a Softball and a Bathing Suit” was written in the May 23 Wall Street Journal about Shintaido practitioner Derk Richardson’s recovery after hip replacement surgery. The article discusses Shintaido and has many pictures of Shin Aoki’s class at Temescal Regional Park in Oakland, California.
The article also had a sidebar titled, “A Martial Art With Self-Expression” where Shin Aoki describes Shintaido.

Shintaido Northeast will be holding their Kangeiko January 30-31 at the Shintaido Farm. The theme for this Kangeiko is, “Life is Our Keiko”. Save the dates. More details coming soon.

Ann Sievers organized a Shintaido demonstration for the Japan Summer Festival at the Blue Back Square in West Hartford, CT on Saturday, June 13th. Bela Breslau was the emcee with Joe Zawielski, Margaret Guay, Brad Larson, and Stephen Billias demonstrating.

The European Shintaido College is celebrating their 10th anniversary with their 2014 ESC Forum which is open to Shintaido practitioners of all levels! The Forum will be held October 31-November 2 in Reims, France.
The theme for the Forum is “Depth and Diversity”. The opening session will be lead by Ito sensei and the closing session will be lead by Minagawa sensei. Exams are being offered up to sandan.
