DC Shintaido: “Free Fall”

Our “Free Fall” DC Shintaido class series continues on Sunday, Sept. 23. We will meet again at our Rock Creek Park “dojo”, just west of the of the 1600 block of Longfellow St. NW. We are currently focusing on the meditative Taimyo kata.

START: Sunday 9-23 at 4 p.m., weather permitting.
LENGTH: About 1 hr 15 mins.

CLOTHING: Loose-fitting for easy movement, or a white gi.

SHINTAIDO is an expressive and meditative movement art with deep roots in Japanese martial arts and spiritual tradition. A class, or keiko, features movement, study of a classical forms, some partner practice and meditation. Children are welcome under a parent’s supervision. Shintaido is traditionally practiced in natural settings. Classes include participants of all abilities.

The instructor, Lee Ordeman, has practiced Shintaido for more than 30 years. He has studied directly under the art’s several masters in the U.S. and Japan. He has led classes and workshops in Japan, Europe and the U.S. He has broad experience in movement, including five years dancing with Kei Takei’s Moving Earth.
